IRISH people desperately in need of an organ transplant could be able to find it anywhere in the EU as a result of a new system.

The system should also help to flight against organ trafficking by ensuring all are traceable.

The number of organ donors in Ireland is relatively small and at the moment according to the Irish Kidney Association there are 600 people on a waiting list. Organs from 81 people last year – an increase of 21% from the previous year – helped save the lives of more than 240 patients.
