‘Swing’ a hometown hit

INTERNET singing sensations Crystal Swing played a sold out gig at Cork Opera House last night amid reports that they are set to perform on stage with British singer Lily Allen this summer.

The family trio from, Lisgoold, Co Cork, received a huge boost earlier this year when they performed on the widely watched Ellen DeGeneres Show in the US.

The family trio, Mary Murray-Burke and her children Dervla and Derek, performed two songs and were interviewed by the host. The appearance followed their rise to prominence when a video of them performing a cover of He Drinks Tequila became one of the most watched and discussed items on YouTube.

The Burke family are now signed to play at the Flat Lakes Literary and Arts Festival in Monaghan next month. Singer-songwriter Lily Allen, will perform on stage with the trio at the festival.

Meanwhile, Derek Burke is to front a family video of his now signature number, The Hucklebuck. A number of Irish celebrities are also expected to appear in the video for the song. The record is out now on MP3 and will be in shops in the next week or two.
