TAOISEACH Brian Cowen has admitted he made mistakes that contributed to the economic crash but refused to apologise for them.

It came as the Opposition accused him of “washing his hands” of responsibility for his role in the crisis.

Mr Cowen said that while “with hindsight” he had made some mistakes as finance minister from 2004 to 2008, he got more right than wrong.
