UNIVERSITY College Cork’s success in managing reduced Government funding should allow it to take advantage of any future upturn, its president Dr Michael Murphy has claimed.

College boss praises funding approach

In his annual report for the 2008/2009 college year, he outlined the need for UCC to minimise the impact of future economic shocks on the quality of services to its students.

Dr Murphy also acknowledged the efforts of the college’s staff of almost 2,900 and the rest of the university community in implementing a range of cost-reduction measures taken because of reductions in Exchequer funding over the last two years.
