23% of cars damaged by potholes

ALMOST one quarter of all motorists have had their car damaged as a result of hitting a pothole since the start of the year.

An AA survey of 7,000 motorists shows that 22.9% had hit a pothole since the start of the year causing damage that required garage repair or an AA call-out.

The survey found that in most cases the repair cost was modest – 24% of the time it was less than €100 and could simply be a replacement tyre or tracking realignment.
