‘No split’ in hierarchy

CATHOLIC primate Cardinal Seán Brady has denied there is “a split” within the hierarchy over the future of Catholic schools in the country.

Cardinal Brady said, “Catholic schools have a place” in Irish society “because parents are keen to have that kind of school”.

His comments come just days after Archbishop Diarmuid Martin of Dublin acknowledged that the church is over-represented in primary education.
