ALL doctors will have to show that their skills are being kept up to date from next year.

Law change on doctor training

The new training requirements, part of the Medical Practitioners Act 2007, have been signed into law by Health Minister, Mary Harney.

The implementation of part 11 of the act – maintenance of professional competence, was delayed to allow the Medical Council time to set up the necessary structures. The council informed Ms Harney last December that she could now go ahead and commence the provision.
