Amy’s mother furious Cowen cannot meet her
Her hopes of talks with Foreign Affairs Minister Micheál Martin during a trip back to Ireland were also dealt a blow.
A secretary for the Department of Foreign Affairs emailed Amy’s distraught mum Audrey hours before she was due to board a flight from Spain to say both men were out of the country.
Audrey, 41, hit out after saying she felt DFA officials were “palming her off” by offering her a meeting with two department civil servants.
She is now due to meet assistant secretary, Ray Bassett, head of the consular and passport division, and consular assistance worker, Mary Cusack, today.
Audrey spent nearly €1,000 on return flights to Dublin with partner, Dave Mahon, said: “I emailed the DFA over a week ago requesting a meeting with Micheál Martin and Brian Cowen. “They assured me everything would be OK and some sort of meeting would take place before I bought the tickets. Now I’m being told both men are out of the country.”
Amy vanished aged 15 on New Year’s Day 2008.
