HEALTH Service Executive spending cuts to avoid budget overruns due to industrial action by staff will hit services and patients, the head of the health authority has warned.

Industrial action by IMPACT members in the HSE has meant that management cannot gain access to key financial data.

HSE chief executive Prof Brendan Drumm said the organisation was now looking at where spending could be cut as a precautionary measure to ensure there was no overrun at the end of the year.
