Firefighters set to train for Shannon tunnel

FIREFIGHTERS from Limerick city and county, along with Clare and North Tipperary, will today embark on a three-day intensive training course in the €660 million road tunnel which has been built under the Shannon near the Limerick cement factory.

The new amenity is due to open in June.

Up to 150 emergency services personnel will carry out the major response operation.
