Man in his 80s pleads not guilty to rape and sexual assault 45 years ago

AN elderly man has pleaded not guilty to the alleged rape and sexual assault of a female at a house in Dublin up to 45 years ago.

The man, who is in his 80s and who required some help in and out of the custody benches, pleaded not guilty in a loud voice to a total of nine charges put to him yesterday.

The charges are that on a date unknown between April 1965 and the end of December 1970 on three occasions the man raped a female, having unlawful carnal knowledge of her without her consent.
