Three sisters sexually abused by brother get €1m damages

The three had brought an action for damages against their brother, who was jailed for 10 years at the Central Criminal Court last year for sexually abusing his sisters, for sexual assault and battery they claimed they suffered.

The court heard that the abuse, which occurred in and around the family home, commenced in the 1950s and ended in the late ’60s when the sisters left home. The women are aged in their early 60s and late 50s and cannot be named for legal reasons.
