THE two Bank of Ireland public interest directors embroiled in the €1.5m pension top up to group chief executive Richie Boucher have refused to comment on the controversy.

At Punchestown races yesterday, former Agriculture Minister Joe Walsh, a keen horse racing enthusiast, said he did not wish to be drawn into the controversy.

As a member of the remuneration committee, he should have been involved in the deal to top up Mr Boucher’s pension that would have allowed him retire on almost €368,000.
