THE Government has been called on to revisit the pension arrangements for former Central Bank officials in the wake the decision of Bank of Ireland’s chief executive to forego a €1.5m retirement top-up.

Fine Gael leader Enda Kenny said the former governor of the Central Bank, John Hurley, and the former financial regulator, Patrick Neary, both benefited from generous pension arrangements.

He said in light of the failings at both institutions it was questionable whether their retirement deals were warranted.
