Department probes Cork VEC’s €164k IT bill

SPENDING procedures at County Cork VEC have provoked serious concerns in the Department of Education and a report on the matter is under review.

These arose because the VEC became saddled with a €164,000 bill after a technology company it had a contract with collapsed.

The department said it was kept in the dark about the deal and the way in which the funding was arranged.
