ARCHAEOLOGISTS have unearthed more than 50 graves at an excavation at Christ Church in Cork city.

The graves, dating from the 18th and 19th century were unearthed as part of a restoration €4 million project on the building which is being transformed into an arts and music venue.

Two burials were excavated from the former church’s crypt, 13 were buried in trenches around the apse and the remaining 37 were unearthed within the vestry.
