Man checked out before checking in at airport

IN WHAT bore an eerie resemblance to the storyline of a 1980s movie, two women were arrested in Liverpool this weekend after trying to check in at an airport with the body of a dead 91-year-old man propped up in a wheelchair and wearing sunglasses.

But the women, identified as Mr Jarant’s widow, Gitta Jarant, 66, and step-daughter, Anke Anusic, 44, denied that they knew the man, Curt Willi Jarant, was dead. They were checking in on a Saturday flight from John Lennon Airport to Berlin when they were arrested.

Airport sources said that enquires into the wellbeing of the man by staff were shrugged off with claims he was asleep.
