War of words: Lenihan denies ‘secret’ deal in bailout

FINANCE Minister Brian Lenihan has denied there was anything underhanded about how and when the latest injection of €8.2 billion was approved for Anglo Irish Bank.

Fine Gael’s Kieran O’Donnell and Pat Rabbitte of the Labour Party had queried how the €8.2bn appeared on Anglo annual accounts which were up to the end of December 2009.

However the measure was only approved by the Dáil last Tuesday.
