WITH more people sleeping rough in Limerick, a voluntary group wants to extend its soup runs from two to four night a week.

Novas members, made up of 30 volunteers at present, hit the streets at 7pm on Tuesdays and Wednesdays offering food and comfort to people sleeping on the streets.

During the recent freeze, Novas drew up a cold weather strategy offering shelter. It also linked up with the city council to arrange accommodation in one of the city’s hostels for people in need of a roof over their head.
