100 join Kinsale search for missing Polish woman
Elzbieta Ewa Konik, 25, was last seen in Kinsale, Co Cork, just after 6pm last Wednesday when she finished work at a local butchers. She was reported missing by her employer the following morning when she failed to turn up for work.
She had been living in Kinsale for about two years and had a small circle of close friends.
She has been described by friends as “very reliable” and they said it is completely out of character for her to go missing like this so they are increasingly concerned.
Elzbieta is described as 1m 66cm tall, with brown eyes and blonde/ brown shoulder-length hair.
She was last seen wearing brown shoes, black or grey jeans and a distinctive black material coat, which had a buckle on the left side.
Almost 100 people, including several from the local Polish community, were involved in searches yesterday which focused on the town centre, but expanded outwards towards Ballinspittle and the James Fort area.
They were backed up by local Coast Guard units, the RNLI and local boats.
A Garda spokesman said searches will resume this morning and volunteers should meet at Dromderrig Bridge at 10.30am.
Anyone with information should call 021-4772302 or the Garda Confidential line on 1800-666 111.
