Security guard shoots Irishmen at New York bowling alley

A LIMERICK couple were at the hospital bedside of their son in a New York hospital yesterday where he was recovering from a bizarre shooting incident involving a security man.

Gerard Hourigan, 29, from Upper Grange, Bruff, was shot in the stomach in the early hours of Saturday after he and his friend, Justin Donaghy, also 29, who is from Navan were confronted by an armed security man at a bowling alley in Queens.

Security guard Michael Iavecchio saw them smoking in a hall, flouting New York laws.
