Man faces charges on knife murder
Loredana Pricajar, 34, was subjected to a frenzied knife attack during which she received up to 20 stab wounds to her body, head and neck.
Her attacker is then understood to have tried to commit suicide by stabbing himself in the neck.
The horrific death is believed to have followed a row between the couple, who’d had a relationship.
Gardaí suspect Ms Pricajar had ended the relationship with the man, also from Romania, and this may have led to the attack.
The former boyfriend, aged in his 40s, was taken to St Vincent’s Hospital for treatment, while gardaí awaited the green light from doctors to interview him.
Yesterday afternoon, detectives arrested the man and took him to Dundrum Garda Station. He was detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act on suspicion of murder.
He is likely to appear before Dublin District Court sometime today.
Ms Pricajar had lived and worked in Ireland for a number of years. She worked as a nurse in a nursing home.
Her ex-boyfriend was renting an apartment in the quiet Irish Management Institute complex in Sandyford. He is understood to be a lawyer by profession.
