Foul play ruled out after body found

Superintendent Con Cadogan said there was no sign of forced entry to the house and following a postmortem, gardaí are satisfied there was no third party involvement in the death. “We are satisfied there was no foul play involved. We are awaiting the results of some toxicology tests and will prepare an inquest file for the coroner’s court.”

He declined to release the name of the deceased until all relatives have been informed. The body of the 68-year-old, who is understood to be a mother-of-two, was discovered in a bedroom of her bungalow at Primrose Hill, in Tower on the outskirts of Blarney early yesterday. Gardaí found the body when they gained entry to the house at about 3am after a concerned neighbour contacted them after not seeing her for days. It is understood the manner in which the body was found led gardaí to initially treat the death as suspicious. A Garda technical unit conducted a forensic examination at the scene.
