Calls for Robinson to resign as sleaze slurs mount

PETER Robinson’s grip on power in the North looked increasingly shaky last night as sleaze allegations swirling around his marriage prompted more resignation calls.

The DUP leader and First Minister’s position was further damaged as former First Minister in the Northern Ireland Assembly Lord Trimble claimed he had lost his authority following the exposure of his wife Iris’s affair with a toyboy.

However, Mr Robinson was thrown some support as DUP Finance Minister Sammy Wilson insisted he still commanded support.
