DETECTIVES yesterday arrested three men suspected of being involved in dissident republican activity during a raid near the Irish border.

A handgun was seized during the search on a house in Belturbet, Co Cavan. Garda sources said the operation was not related to the car bomb attack on a Catholic police officer in Northern Ireland.

The men, aged 38, 39 and 44, include two brothers from Co Armagh and a man from Tyrone.
