TWIST IN TIGER’S TALE

HIS mother in law left in an ambulance, his wife is about to leave in a huff and Tiger Woods is probably wishing the other women in his life – 10 and counting – would leave him alone.

The latest episode in the Woods reality soap opera saw medics rush to his $2.6 million Florida mansion in the early hours of yesterday after his mother-in-law became unwell with stomach pains. Barbro Holmberg, 57, was staying at the Woods home to support her daughter Elin Nordegren, who each day is faced with a new reminder that her husband, in the words of one US tabloid headline, is more “cheetah” than tiger.

To date, 10 women are alleged to have had romantic links to the golfer, but the one which may have driven a golf cart through any hope of a reconciliation between the couple was the seventh.

More women may already have bobbed to the surface of the scandal, but 36-year-old Ms Sampson, who has featured in adult films like Girl on Girl Tickle Wards and The House of the Naked Captives, tipped the balance.

Early yesterday Ms Holmberg was taken to hospital on “advanced life support”, according to WESH-TV. She arrived on a stretcher. A black Cadillac Escalade arrived shortly after and a younger blonde woman, apparently her daughter Elin, jumped out and ran into the hospital. Some 45 minutes later, Woods reportedly went into the hospital, which he last graced after his November 27 car accident. Ms Holmberg left 11 hours later.

The smash, which set off a chain of allegations, must have left the editors of Golf Digest magazine almost as irked as Ms Woods. The January cover in the US features Tiger with Barack Obama and the headline: “10 Tips Obama Can Take From Tiger.” The article, written before the crash, states: “Tiger never does anything that would make him look ridiculous.”

And as the jokes roll in thick and fast, the latest but not necessarily best was from Tory leader David Cameron who, addressing a male-only lunch party, said: “I asked Tiger Woods to come along but the idea of 1,300 men didn’t seem very appealing to him, although he did express a keen interest in my all-women shortlists.”
