One man arrested at Wheatfield was being questioned at Lucan Garda Station while another, arrested at Limerick Prison, was brought to Roxboro Road Garda Station.

Two others arrested at Wheatfield Prison on Wednesday as part of the same operation were yesterday released from Lucan Garda Station without charge and returned to prison.

The two arrested yesterday are being held under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act and can be held without charge for 24 hours.

Detectives from Roxboro Road carried out the arrests, under Superintendent Ann Marie McMahon and Detective Inspector Tom O’Connor, as part of the investigations into the murders of Roy Collins, Shane Geoghegan and James Cronin.

Businessman Mr Collins, 25, was shot dead at the family business in Roxboro shopping centre on April 9 last.

Mr Geoghegan, 28, was shot dead at Kilteragh, Dooradoyle, on November 9, 2008, and the body of Mr Cronin, 20, was found in a shallow grave near Ballinacurra Weston in April 2008.

Members of a Limerick gang are suspected of carrying out all three murders.
