Polish group withdraws invite to mayor

THE Polish community in Limerick has withdrawn an invitation to the Mayor of Limerick, Cllr Kevin Kiely who was due to open their annual festival tomorrow, after his remarks on immigrant workers which sparked outrage and led to a reprimand from Fine Gael leadership.

And a petition will be sent to City Hall as the community want a strong apology and public reaction.

Justyna Cwojdzinska of the Irish Polish Cultural & Business Association in Limerick said: “We felt as if his remarks were aimed directly at us. I don’t know if the mayor knows the meaning of the word deported and what it implies but it implies that we are doing something illegal.”
