On Friday last, the star’s devastated partner flew to Dublin for a private visit with his in-laws, Margaret and Martin Gately, and Stephen’s older sister, Michelle.

The family visited the Dublin funeral home where Stephen’s ashes were awaiting collection.

The ashes have been taken back to the couple’s luxury High Gate, north London, home.

However, the final resting place of the Sheriff Street-born pop star’s remains is not yet decided.

The family also took collection of the many thousands of Mass cards and messages sent by fans and admirers.

Before flying back to England, 32-year-old Andrew was also understood to have met with the members of Boyzone.

The couple met in 2003 and tied the knot in a 2006 civil ceremony in London by exchanging €20,000 rings.

Gately, 33, was found dead two weeks ago on the sofa in his luxury apartment in Port Andratx, Majorca, after a night out with Mr Cowles and a friend, Georgi Dochev.

A post-mortem examination found he died from natural causes, the medical report recording pulmonary oedema or fluid on the lungs.

Mr Dochev, 25, found the star’s body.
