Vandals deface historic walls

GARDAÍ in Galway are examining CCTV footage in a bid to find vandals who defaced one of the oldest buildings in the city with graffiti.

Vandals deface historic walls

One of the exterior walls of Lynch’s Castle, a 14th century building in Shop Street in the city centre which accommodates a branch of AIB, was targeted in the early hours of Thursday morning.

Gardaí have appealed for witnesses. The vandals climbed up on a wall on Abbeygate Street on the side of the building and sprayed the ancient wall of the castle which was built in 1320.
