One in four under-25s on dole as number of foreigners falls

ALMOST one-in-four Irish people under the age of 25 is on the dole while the number of non-Irish nationals on the live register has fallen for the second consecutive month.

In a trend repeated monthly over the past year, latest figures from the Central Statistics Office (CSO) show the increasing number of young people out of work.

Last month, there were 95,745 under-25s out of a total of 440,056 signing on the dole. The pattern is reflected in all regions but slightly more so in the border, midland and western (BMW) area.
