UP to 60 people are to lose their jobs at an aircraft maintenance firm Aviance after attempts to transfer the workers to a new contract holder failed.

According to Jason Palmer of SIPTU, which represents the affected staff at Dublin Airport, Aviance is due to cease operations at the airport on August 25. “At the beginning of this process when Aviance announced that, they said they were trying to arrange a transfer of the workers to another ground handling company at the airport, Servisair.

“That transfer has not been fully possible, they have only secured a transfer for 41 people. A further 60 will be made redundant.
