LONG-TERM occupants who are renting from stricken developers will be denied their legal right to a new tenancy if the National Assets Management Agency (NAMA) needs the property for any purpose.

Ordinarily, people who rent are entitled to continue their tenancy if they have been living in the same place for a set period and have not broken the terms of their lease.

This affects people living in rented homes for 20 years, those occupying business premises for five years and long-stay tenants who invested to upgrade the site.
