MORE than 27,000 jobs in jeopardy will be propped up by a €250 million subsidy under a scheme announced yesterday by Enterprise Minister Mary Coughlan.

Vulnerable but viable manufacturing firms who are struggling to make ends meat during the recession can apply for the funding.

But the opposition branded the move “full of holes” and accused Ms Coughlan of desperately re-packaging previously announced initiatives after coming under intense pressure from business leaders over spiralling redundancy rates.
