Gilligan appears on mobile phone charge

JOHN Gilligan had a mobile phone and a SIM card in his prison cell when it was searched by gardaí, a court heard yesterday.

The convicted drug trafficker appeared before Portlaoise District Court, where he asked for additional documentation so as to defend himself against the charges.

Mr Gilligan was brought to court in a convoy of vehicles made up of Garda and Defence Forces personnel, shortly before 11am yesterday.
