THREE Irish writers are named in the long list for this year’s £50,000 Man Booker Prize for Fiction.

William Trevor (Love and Summer) and Colm Toibin (Brooklyn) along with first-timer Ed O’Loughlin (Not Untrue & Not Unkind) are among the chosen 13 which includes two former winners and three first-time novelists.

Bookies Paddy Power have made South African/Australian author JM Coetzee their 3/1 favourite to win the prize.
