POLICE forces around the world are cooperating with gardaí in the hunt for at least six more individuals who were involved in the €400 million cocaine smuggling attempt off the Cork coast two years ago.

It follows the arrest of a former British drugs squad officer in the investigation into the seizure of more than 1.5 tonnes of cocaine at Dunlough Bay in July 2007.

Following a joint operation between the gardaí and the London Metropolitan Police Service in recent days, a former Metropolitan Police drugs squad officer was among three men who were arrested and charged in connection with the drugs run.
