Man charged with murder

THE former partner of a woman killed in the North 14 years ago was charged with her murder yesterday.

William Mawhinney, 49, was arrested in Cambridgeshire by police investigating the murder of 36-year-old Lorraine Mills in 1995. He will appear at the Magistrates’ Court in Ballymena, Co Antrim, today. The mother-of-two was found dead at her home in Staffa Drive, Ballymena, in May 1995.
