Cowen: No apology over IMF report

TAOISEACH Brian Cowen has refused to concede that this week’s International Monetary Fund (IMF) report represented a damning verdict on his tenure as finance minister.

He also refused to apologise for mistakes made, saying he and this government had got more things right than wrong.

The IMF report said that Ireland had been “perhaps the most overheated” of all advanced economies and cited a series of government policy errors which contributed to this – particularly from 2005 to 2007 when Mr Cowen was finance minister.
