MONEY is dictating how decisions to care for vulnerable homeless children are made, a social justice campaigner has claimed.

Fr Peter McVerry, who has been working with Dublin’s young homeless for more than 30 years, said homeless children were “seriously stressed-out” because of pressure on services and a lack of sufficient long-term care.

Fr McVerry said that it was clear the needs of children were coming after financial considerations.
