IRELAND is in a queue of 16 countries for a vaccine under development to treat swine flu.

Yesterday, Health Minister Mary Harney said Ireland would have to pay up front for the vaccine, which should be available six months after the new strain developed.

She said the expert group dealing with the fall-out from swine flu had advised her they needed to join the queue as a precautionary measure.
