LEARNER drivers may soon face examination on “green” issues in the driving test as the Government aims to promote better driving habits among motorists.

Learner drivers to face ‘green’ tests

The Road Safety Authority has confirmed it is considering a new section to the standard driving test which would examine motorists on their knowledge of “eco-driving”.

The Government is anxious to promote the message that unnecessary short trips, poor car maintenance, incorrect tyre pressures, driving with open windows, as well as rapid acceleration and braking, all contribute to poor fuel efficiency.
