Bertie: I’m in tuppence-halfpenny place compared to bankers

FORMER taoiseach Bertie Ahern has claimed he is in the “tuppence-halfpenny” place when his financial dealings are compared with Irish bankers.

In an interview to be aired tomorrow, he says bankers at the heart of the recent financial scandals will be prosecuted.

The former Fianna Fáil leader also maintains that compared with the billions involved in the bank scandal, the dealings that landed him before the Mahon tribunal were “pittance”.
