THE country’s judges have agreed a deal to allow them to voluntarily pay the pension levy, but none of them will be obliged to sign up.

Regardless of the hardship experienced across all other sectors, judges are protected from pay cuts by the Constitution.

Chief Justice John Murray requested the arrangements be put in place to allow his fellow members of the judiciary to give up the money if they wish.
