LABOUR leader Eamon Gilmore last night accused the Government of being tainted by sleaze due to its close relationship with developers.

Opening his party’s conference in Mullingar, he insisted it was time to break the link between “big money buying political influence”.

He said Taoiseach Brian Cowen lacked credibility, when it came to tackling the culture of greed which had damaged Ireland’s banking reputation, due to the access he claimed developers and financiers were given to Fianna Fáil ministers via the party’s hospitality tent at the Galway Races.
