THE arrival in London for the first time of US President Barack Obama on March 31, together with representatives from other G20 countries, is to draw unprecedented police protection.

Senior police commanders are saying at least 1,500 protestors will take part, with some planning to pitch tents overnight to try to clog up the city centre for the summit.

“They are innovative people and we must be innovative as well,” the police officers say.
