Rugby’s greatest fan answers Ireland’s call
With Daniel’s family thinking nothing of a four-and-a-half hour drive from county Cork, the Moloney family hopped in the car on Sunday and sped off to greet the players — players who have filed out in Croke Park after Daniel.
And the journey was worth it. Nine-year-old Daniel, who suffers from a rare condition, cystic hygroma, got a big ‘how are you, Daniel?’ from head coach Declan Kidney and hooker Jerry Flannery. Ronan O’Gara smiled when he spotted him, quipping “You’re always around!” while team captain, Brian O’Driscoll, gave him the Six Nations cup and shook his hand.
