UP to 90,000 jobs could be saved by providing a fund of €300 million to help small and medium businesses in difficulty, according to Sinn Féin.

The party is also proposing the creation of a harmonised VAT rate between the North and South to prevent the loss of revenue through cross border shopping.

This would involve dropping the Irish VAT rate of 21.5% to the British rate of 15% over a five to 10 year period, according to Sinn Féin’s spokesperson on economics Arthur Morgan.
