FIREFIGHTERS and emergency services responded to more than 300 call outs during St Patrick’s Day celebrations including the burning of cars and violent incidents.

Despite nearly 100 parades passing off peacefully nationwide on the day, emergency services said they were “very busy” in Dublin.

Dublin fire brigade yesterday reported that emergency responses were only slightly down on last year’s celebrations in the capital, which were marked by rioting in Finglas.
