Abandoned properties repossessed

LENDERS were given immediate possession of three abandoned properties at the High Court yesterday amid fears they would be vandalised or used by drug users.

In all, Judge Elizabeth Dunne granted 11 repossession orders, with a further three well-charging orders — these commit a borrower to selling a property in order to meet mortgage repayments.

In the case of a Galway home for which a €90,000 mortgage was advanced in September 2007, arrears had began to accumulate in April 2008, with the last payment of €400 made in June of that year.
